Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Today’s prompt provides an interesting question. When someone asks a young (or younger) person, “Where do you see yourself in 10 years,?”the answer is usually linked to ambition. Better job, higher wages, fulfilling career. But when you reach my age, newly retired, the focus is, well, slightly out of focus.
In 10 years, I’ll be 75. I’m hoping to be living a healthy life, still writing on a daily basis. Will Jetpack be around to provide these daily prompts? More importantly, will the world be around? I think I can keep myself well with health maintenance, but what if the world around me is going to hell?
I remain optimistic about the future; I like to think a great deal of our current social upheaval is an unsustainable system in its death throes, thrashing about like an injured wild animal while making way for new life. But whether that new life is going to be adaptable mammals crawling out of the vegetation to rise up as a dominant life form, or maggots that only survive while the carcass lasts remains to be seen.
