Luxury!?

What’s the one luxury you can’t live without?

An odd prompt. Once again, I am pressed to define something before I can comment on it.

To me, a luxury is something that one doesn’t need but possesses to enjoy. Luxuries are those things that one can win on a game show. I don’t need a brand new car, or…whatever. (I don’t really watch game shows.)

I don’t think of anything in my life as a luxury; I’m pretty stripped down to the basic necessities these days. I do enjoy vacations and travel, but again, those are part of my life education and experience and not really luxury items. It would be great to go on a luxury vacation where I am pampered, but the resorts and cruises of recent years have not proven to fit this definition.

Things such as food, clothing, shelter, running water, the internet: these are all basic necessities. I would hate to live in a post-apocalyptic time when any of them would be considered a luxury item.

Help me out! How do you define luxury? Let me know in the comments, and please like and follow!
