Jot

Jot down the first thing that comes to your mind.

I read the prompt. And tried to let my mind go blank, which is very difficult today because, on top of my cold, I’ve gotten conjunctivitis (which led to an ER visit late last night when my partner got it first). So, clearing my mind, the first thing that came to my mind was:

JOT. It was a 1960s children’s cartoon. I’m not sure I ever saw it during that decade but years later I was introduced to it by a friend, Kathy Engle. She seemed quite taken with it, and often made references to it by imitating the invisible mother calling on Jot, clearly a small child (rendered as a dot with occasionally visible limbs, when they were needed). When I saw the word in the prompt, I heard her saying, “JOT!” So I had to find an example video for you so you too can hear it.
