What are your morning rituals? What does the first hour of your day look like?
After stripping down and climbing out on the roof to do a dance to honor the Cosmic Mother, I… Wait, that’s not me!
My morning “rituals,” if you can call them that, are pretty mundane. Shower and dress, and get that first cup of coffee. (A cupful of French Roast helps the medicine go down!) This has been the pattern for a few years now, and only recently changed when cats were added to the mix. They come first (though turning on the coffee maker does precede spooning out their food).
The cats’ ritual has undergone a change, though. I would feed Casey and Shelby by putting their dishes down on opposite sides of the wall. They’d nibble a bit, then switch dishes. If anything was left, they’d likely return and eat the rest. But Shelby died last year, and we got Hunee. Since she’s still a kitten I put her food in the next room and close the door (because she likes to run and “share” Casey’s). As for Casey, he eats a bit of his food, and walks away; but one day I wondered, what if I put his plate where Shelby’s always was? When I did, he turned and ate the rest. So I added that to my ritual, in order to preserve his.
These strange creatures of habit, both humans and felines alike!
