Weather It’s Cold or Weather It’s Hot…

What is your favorite type of weather?

The actual phrase is, “Whether it’s cold or whether it’s hot, we’re going to have weather, whether or not.” As a result we may have frost on our rubber baby buggy bumpers. (Repeat 5 times.)

I hate cold. When I get really cold I start shivering uncontrollably. I have the same internal thermostat as a lizard; I want to sit on that sun-heated rock (or my office chair by that very nice ceramic heater). Only then can I relax.

So obviously I prefer the summer. People always say, “It’s easier to warm up than get cool.” I disagree. Yes, you can put on more layers and pile on more blankets, but for someone like me, sometimes that’s just not enough. And for people who prefer it cooler, this is possibly true. But give me the heat.

Now, there are times when I say, “It’s too hot even for me.” And as global climate change continues, I may say that more often. But that’s a high threshold to reach. I’ve been in Las Vegas, NV and Scottsdale, AZ and found the dry heat of the late morning to be acceptable.

But 112 in the afternoon? No, thanks. And the humidity of Tampa, FL or New Orleans, LA? Total ugh. I was crossing a street in New Orleans once and it began to rain, huge wet drops—and I didn’t feel any different from the moments before.

So my heat, like everything, should be in moderation please.

  1. New Orleans is way too humid. Growing up in Texas led me to enjoy the cold as much as possible. Unfortunately, these last few years have barely yielded any true winter seasons and only record breaking heat advisories. Referring to another post of yours, I’m looking forward to that late April snow.
