Do you need a break? From what?
When I moved from my three-story (plus basement) brick Victorian house, I sold many things, I gave away much, but still had a great deal of items I didn’t want to part with. Since I was moving in with someone, there wasn’t room for it all, and so I employed a storage unit.
Since that time, I’ve been removing some things from the unit, and it’s gone from being totally full and almost unnavigable to about 2/3 full. Recently I brought home a box of files marked “Completed Writings” to go through and see what I might discard. (I have several boxes from the filing cabinet with files that I think can also wind up in the recycling bin.)
In the box, I found several completed plays and two scripts about aliens. I immediately worked on updating two of the scripts, one of which was originally printed on that computer paper that fed through continuously. (Sorry, I forgot what it’s called! Continuous feed, maybe?) I did find a Word document of both to update, and in fact to import into Scrivener which I use for scriptwriting.
With these scripts I have essentially The Alien Suite of five plays:
- Aliens! 10 Miles, Turn Left
- Abducted!
- They’re Among Us
- Revision
- Probe
I think they would make for an entertaining evening of film, as there are already video versions of Aliens! And They’re Among Us.
Alongside the scripts for the last two was a file of alien conspiracies that I printed out as reference material ages ago. I’ve always been intrigued by such theories and the people who so easily believe them. But—
I really could use a break from people who swallow every political conspiracy that comes along. There’s a meme that addresses this, saying something like, Why do you think scientists been been lying to us for decades? Indeed, science (which I still think could save mankind from destruction) is the path forward, not a way to control mindless humans. Mindful humans believe real science.
I guess another way of putting it is: I need a break from ignorance.

want the planet hotter and and wetter and more flooded…
