Guilty, Your Honor

Have you ever unintentionally broken the law?

A few years ago, when working on a set design for the play Noises Off, I was informed about the difference between stairs and ladders.

Then, just about a year ago, I was descending from the second floor of the garage. I always come down backwards, because I have determined that those are not stairs; it is a ladder.

About a third of the way down, I made a misstep, and my foot was in the air. I then turned 180° horizontally, and 90° vertically. I dropped down between the ladder and a table, landing on my back.

Luckily, I missed hitting anything on the way down. I suffered no major injuries, and only had a few scrapes and bruises.

But that’s how I unintentionally broke the law of gravity.
