Favorite Candy?

What’s your favorite candy?

As I write these blog posts, I try to include some socially relevant material when addressing the topics of the daily prompts. Today’s, “What’s your favorite candy?” doesn’t really lend itself to allegorical underpinnings or political subtext. It’s a very light and sugary question, but I’ll take some time away from my deeper philosophical thoughts, and “bite” on this question.

Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. Hands down. Over the years I’ve enjoyed Hershey’s kisses, and for awhile indulged in a minor addiction with M&Ms (plain, of course, but always that big bag). My one consistent, however, has been the PBC—especially the Easter eggs which, with their larger size and better chocolate-to-peanut butter ratio, sent me to the candy aisle (and special displays!) time and time again.

I’ve really cut down on my candy eating lately, so buying multiple packages at Easter (okay, starting right after Valentine’s Day when they appear in the stores) has ceased.

But to answer the age-old marketing question: How do I eat a Reese’s? Pop the whole thing in my mouth at once. That way, as I chew, the ingredients interact with all of my taste buds at once, so I get the salty and sweet simultaneously. That’s the best!

  1. This is such an important question the few days before Valentine’s Day! Today my roommate, Lisa, and I were looking for the 24″ long box of Russell Stover candy that was being sold during the holidays. She gifted me the 35 piece box of chocolates and I was in heaven. So, like my mother before me, Russell Stover chocolates are my favorite. My go-to chocolate for those ordinary daily cravings is a Hershey bar. I love to use my tongue to press the chocolate squares against the roof of my mouth and as the chocolate melts savor all the flavor. Yummy! 😋 I don’t eat as much chocolate as I used to eat because I do not want to become diabetic. Yet, chocolate still does the trick when it comes to my sweet tooth.

  2. The head shop i work at has THC Peanut Butter Cups now. I’m hooked, but they retail at $40 for six chocolates. I’ll eat a 1/4 or 1/2 of one at a time and get a good dosage.
