Trustworthy, Loyal, Brave, and True?

Tell us one thing you hope people say about you.

Isn’t that the motto of the Boy Scouts? Of course, I mean the scouts themselves and not those predators who, under the guise of guiding young boys, led them astray. My, it sounds too much like members of the Catholic clergy!

If people were to describe me (a variant of the prompt), they would certainly mention loyalty. I’ve always striven to be a very loyal friend, and wish I could be in touch with more of them on a more regular basis.

As for other attributes, I‘d like to be known as an excellent writer, a good communicator and instructor, and of course, an amazing director. That’s directing people on stage or in films, not impromptu directions on the street with locations, since I’m not great at that, ironically enough.

I’d also like to think that I’m perceptive. I admit that there have been times when I’ve left an encounter and two hours later thought, “Wait: was she flirting with me?” But I think I’m better at sussing out details about others’ lives.

So I’m going to get a little more self-revelatory than usual, and I hope I don’t scare away subscribers, but I have a developing situation and feel the need to get it out there. (I see that I’m getting less concerned about people knowing the details of my life as I get older, so here goes.)

In January my fiancee and I will be celebrating our fifth anniversary together, and we’ve been co-habitating for about 2 years. On the other hand, her son got kicked out of his house by his wife last June after 30 years together and 24 yars or so of marriage, and so he came to live with us. Okay. So lots of things happened (I won’t go into more depth on this since it’s not my privacy I’d be violating) and he’s here for the foreseeable future.

He has a job, and things have been all right, though occasionally the stream gets a little too rapid for easy navigating, but usually smooths out. However, the other night he shows us a photo of his “girlfriend.” Joyce agrees that she can come to visit for the holidays. And then the next night he says (without discussion or input from us) the girl’s coming for 3 weeks. They’re going to live in his room.

The real problem? Her Facebook profile has only 1 photo, and her friends are either old men, young bimbo-esque babes, or cryptocurrency “experts.” Since I’ve had two former students become cam girls and I have been spammed literally thousands of times, I think I can see a problem in all this.

As I lock up my credit cards and checks and search for more background info, I’ll keep you informed.
