Beach or mountains? Which do you prefer? Why?
I love it when I see questions that provide a binary choice. And when I say “love” I of course mean “shun.” As if there are only two choices.
Perhaps I’m overreacting. In the case of this prompt, I’m to choose between beach and mountains. Maybe this assumes further binary choices in a survey. But what if the answer is neither?
I mean, I like the beach well enough, but with the number of skin cancer surgeries I’ve had, my days of fully enjoying a sun kissed beach may be over. Plus, the sand that gets everywhere, including your…suitcase.
As for the mountains, I’d probably fall off. Okay, maybe not that high a mountain, but other than hike and sightsee (which are things I do like to do), there’s not much of a draw there for me. And if you say the word “camping” I’m running away quickly to make a reservation at a hotel.
My preference would be visiting historic towns and landmarks in foreign countries. Maybe see mountains in the distance or land at a beach and admire it from the safety of the cruise ship. The Greek acropolis is as close as I want to get to a mountain, though I’d definitely dip my feet in the Aegean Sea.
So guess what country I’d like to visit in 2024?
