When You Wish For The Apocalpyse

I have a friend who, if he perhaps did not truly believe the Mayan Calendar predicted the end of the world in 2012, kind of hoped the world would end. And so I wrote this song, “The Ballad of the 2012 Believer.” Video to follow.

Ballad of the 2012 Believer

(SLOW)
No man knows the day, and no man one knows the hour
Why is it the assholes have all the power

It’s January One, 2013.
I didn’t think I’d be here today
The Christians and the Mayan
All said that we’d be dyin’
Ending life in this new century

A future without hope, human has beens
Black holes and earthquakes would send us away
Mayans and Nostradamus
Ha! What an ignoramus!
How disappointing is prophecy

Now I’m sitting here, on this empty keg of beer
The only thing to fear—is no fear.
I thought for death I’d beg while sitting on this keg
But the keg is all tapped out and I’m still here.

CHORUS
Should have planned ahead, just in case
It didn’t all come crashing down
Should have kept an eye on the horizon
Near sighted looking was just wrong
Near sighted looking was just wrong

Things are worse than ever, all pundits claim
But every generation says that too
The Jews and Fundamentals
Said we’d be transcendental
And we’d be drinking from the Holy Grail

It’s a wintry day, there’s no sign of flame
No divine judgment, just avian flu (ACHOO)
The Buddhists with samsara
Said there’s be a tomorra’
As I ponder this awesome epic fail.

CHORUS
