Night Fever, Night Fevahhhhh….

What’s your favorite time of day?

I have never been a morning person. I’m a zombie in the mornings because I refuse to go to bed early so I can wake up early and refreshed—because that’s just not going to happen. I will still be awake late, and then be a walker/walking dead person in the early morning.

I did okay with my teaching schedule starting in the afternoon. I could sleep in, and actually be ready to meet the world in the afternoon.

My ideal time is the evening. Preferably in the summer, when it stays light so much later, and the first of the fireflies can be seen. This was always my rehearsal time, and since that process has always energized me, it’s been my prime time.

I also do well later in the evening. I do head back to the barn at some point so I am not that much of a night owl. In college, I worked the midnight to 6am shift at a radio station, and did quite well—until about 4am, and then I dragged myself along until the arrival of the morning guy.

Morning people still think they can make us night people into morning people; they often think we’re lazy and aren’t motivated. I am very motivated—just don’t make me set an alarm and grind away to get to the afternoon.
