Negative Emotions

In yesterday’s blog post, I responded to the prompt about positive emotions. I googled it, and discovered the Internet thinks there are twelve of them. Of courses, that got me wondering what the negative emotions are.

And so my google search said:

  • Sadness
  • Shame
  • Helplessness
  • Anger
  • Vulnerability
  • Embarrassment
  • Disappointment
  • Frustration

In acting, we talk about playing emotions and not conditions, so I’m not quite sure about vulnerability, which seems to me more of the latter. But I think the rest do count as emotions.

And to carry that prompt forward: which negative emotion do I feel most often? I would say disappointment, because people constantly disappoint me. I have expectations of them, often communicated, sometimes not, and they fail to meet them. Sometimes repeatedly. Sometimes pathologically.

And I’m talking personally, about people in my immediate orbit. Don’t get me started on politicians!
