Synchronicity

If humans had taglines, what would yours be?

With one breath, with one flow
You will know synchronicity
A sleep trance, a dream dance
A shared romance, synchronicity

These lyrics come from song by The Police, “Synchronicity I.” Synchronicity is, of course, the phenomenon that makes us think things happen for a reason; the shape and give meaning to coincidences.

That’s my interpretation of Carl Jung’s idea. In fact, I do believe that everything happens for a reason; I’ve met people (or they’ve met me!) at exactly the right time for one or both of us. Other opportunities have opened for me that seemed coincidental or lucky, but I’m a believer in making your own luck.

I also think the mind makes a lot of connections that might not be real. But hey, it’s our perception—who’s going to say it’s wrong?
