What are the most important things needed to live a good life?
I’m confused by today’s prompt. What exactly does it mean, “to live a good life”? Is that a morally good existence? Is it a happy, and therefore good, life? Does it mean a satisfied life, free of want and care?
There are some people who think they are living a good life but who also seem intent on depriving others of their good lives, whether by harassing them, stripping away their rights,or genocide. Seems like there’s a vast spectrum of ways one person can interfere with another’s good life, often accompanied by an unhealthy dose of hypocrisy. (“It’s for the children!”)
I’m not sure that I can answer this, as a result of my confusion. I think I have a very good life, which includes being financially secure for the first time in my adult life. And that’s a good thing. Is that a requirement for a good life? It certainly counts as a major ingredient; when you are scrambling to make ends meet, pay bills, buy food…that doesn’t satisfy my definition of a good life.
Of course, if the prompt means having a spiritually fulfilling and moral life, that may require a whole other set of needs. And that’s more of an internal thing, I think, and each person would need to make that determination for themselves.
While vacationing in Virginia, I saw a lot of signs on houses and properties proclaiming people’s Christian faith. Do they think they are living a good life if they are testifying with their signs? I guess only their neighbors know for sure.

Companionship and great food.
