A few years ago, I wrote Virtual Obsession. In this work, that follows the structure of Goethe’s Faust, a college professor discovers that one of the students in his Faust seminar works as a cam girl and that, as he becomes more involved with her, realizes that she is not his Gretchen or Helen (aspects of the positive eternal feminine) but rather a Mephistophelean devil.
I would love to see this piece turned into a web series (I have the outline for that), a film, or even a stage production. It’s definitely more of an art/indie film, but is (I think!) among my best and most thought-provoking work. Plus it has excellent roles for both Dr. Jonathan George, a professor of Language and Literature, and Elena Blakely, also known as LilliMara, the camgirl.
In the script, one of the characters makes mention of Rule 34, that everything on the internet will somehow be utilized, transformed into, or become porn. One need only look at early VHS porn titles that are often hilarious parodies of mainstream works.
Speaking of hilarious, with all my investigations into artificial intelligence with ChatGPT, DALL-E, Midjourney, et al, I then found a site that creates porn images. I had to check it out (invoking Rule 34!) and began to see how that might work. The results were mixed; some of the more artistic styles work better than the realistic ones and the photographic ones function better, but some of the outcomes are just laughable. I’ve posted two examples below—the potential NSFW ones.
Truly, if three-legged woman are your kink, this might be ideal. I know Douglas Adams made mention of “The Triple-Breasted Whore of Eroticon Six” (though I would have sworn on a stack of holy books it was Vonnegut’s famous sci-fi author Kilgore Trout who produced that) and there was that one woman with three breasts in Total Recall….

I do have a question about who Gretchen is. I composed a song called Gretchen Ross inspired my the character in the film *Donnie Darko *. Which Gretchen are you referring to and what does she symbolize?

Watch out! Three-legged women will give you a run for your money. Gretchen is a young woman Goethe’s Faust falls in love with. He later also falls for Helen of Troy. Literally a long story.
