Awhile back I was posting a lot of these “wrong number” texts and my improv’d responses to them. A friend suggested that the origin of those might in fact be AI bots, but I don’t think it makes it less funny or tragic.
Take these two; their approach is slightly different but I responded the same.
This seems to have stopped the flow of chat, at least momentarily. I also recently decided to accuse one of them of being AI, just to see what would happen. It either short-circuited “her” because she’s AI or is a human who doesn’t want to respond.
I had to ask this time because those responses sound more AI-like; unless they are hooked up to GoogleMaps and know for sure the Land of Rumpelstiltskin is in the US.
