I continue to rail against the ads that appear when I play certain games. These continue to astound me in their ridiculousness, and I would think that, in most businesses, they would have no success or people would be fired. But maybe no one really cares anymore.
The first ad I want to mention appeared this week, which at the time of this writing is late April/early May 2024. It features a woman in a Santa costume doing a little TikTok dance, and claims to be giving Christmas gifts to all users starting December 6, 2023 until January 6th, 2024. Oops! Looks like we all missed that window (or chimney).



Here’s my second complaint. I finally got to the “withdrawal threshold” of $300 in another game. They do this thing where you “win” large sums ($50!) at the beginning, and then that amount slows to $.01 per win as you near the threshold. And then, when you try to withdraw the money, you see this:

One more penny is not a big deal. Or is it?

I gave up checking to see if it would keep going up.
Finally, it’s been 2 years since I retired. I had to get my retirement funds set up, apply for Social Security and Medicare, write my letter of resignation, clean out my office, and endure several non-tasty retirement cakes. And now I find that all it took to retire was just not clean my phone:
