Day Four: Edinburgh

At this point the days in my memory become a bit of a blur. As I look back on the itinerary, I see we visited Edinburgh Castle with a tour guide, and I recall bits and pieces of the Old Town and New Town of Edinburgh. At some point I remember thinking that this city was one of my favorite places that we visited. I think it was the many architectural sights that we saw.

One of the many amazing buildings in Edinburgh.

After the tour of the castle ended, Joyce went to the cafe to rest while I explored more.

Part of Edinburgh castle.

I took some photos of the environs, and then joined her in the cafe for a light lunch. I would re-experience that lunch again later when the intestinal disease hit me. Joyce went on to the dinner (now, see, I’m looking at the itinerary and thinking, “What dinner?” because I wasn’t there), and I returned to the hotel room for my dose of Immodium and some sleep, which allowed me to recover a little faster.

I apparently am not a travel blogger! I’m talking more about illness than sites visited. I’ll try to get better by Day 9 and Stonehenge.

Later in the afternoon we visited Rosslyn Chapel which apparently was featured in The DaVinci Code. Or Angels and Demons. I guess I have to rewatch them. I enjoyed the connection to the Knights Templar and iconography of both the interior and exterior.

Side note: trying to stay warm, I was wearing a hooded Pitt jacket Joyce had bought for me. Outside a shop someone asked, “Are you from the States?” He sported a Michigan cap, and we exchanged pleasantries about the sports teams we didn’t really follow.
